WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Damian Edward McCartney, 12, died on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of a bicycle accident that occurred in Williamsport. He was born on April 13, 1995 in Williamsport. He was the beloved son of Kim M. (Wade) Sandol of Williamsport and Gary L. McCartney of Hughesville. Damian was a student at Curtain Middle School and completed the 6th grade. He was given a certificate of excellence as a member of the Student Council. He received the Orange and Black Award for courtesy, consideration, reliability, preparation and promptness. He had worked in the pressbox for the Brandon Little League and won a blue ribbon at the Lycoming County Fair in 2003 for a drawing of a horse that he had done when he was in 2nd grade. He loved to ride his bicycle and pizza. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by one half brother; Benjamin West of Allenwood, one, half sister; Lisa Hastings of Williamsport, maternal grandmother; Doris Mowery of Williamsport, uncles; Byrl McCartney of South Crolina, Mike Miller of Montogomery, and Alan Fry of Muncy, aunt; Lynne Fry of Montgomery, cousins; Stephanie, Tifany, Kyle, Novah Fry and Gage Swank of Muncy, cousins; Devan and Greg Liddic of Williamsport and the Cochran Family cousins. There will be a public visitation 7-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Damian's memory to; "Damian McCartney Burial Fund" c/o Sovereign Bank, 33 West 3rd Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
