RED LION - Dallas D. Bacon, 79, of Chanceford Township, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Hoffmaster) Bacon. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1674 Furnace Rd., in Brogue. His pastor, The Reverend Peter Beddia will be officiating at the service. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Bacon was born in Brogue on January 26, 1934, the son of the late Roy C. and Freda M. (Kohler) Bacon. He retired from Edgecomb Steel in York where he worked for 36 years as a Sheer Operator. Mr. Bacon was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist church and a life member of Collinsville Fish and Game. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was a fan of sports, and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a 1951 graduate of Lower Chanceford High School. Mr. Bacon leaves a son, Kim D. Bacon and his companion Sandra Blevins of Windsor; a daughter, Tina M. Metz and her husband Mark of Red Lion; a brother, Dennis Bacon of Felton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Bacon. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1674 Furnace Rd., Brogue, PA 17309.
