Dale Robert Summerson

ELKRIDGE, MD - Dale Robert Summerson passed away Saturday, December 12th, 2015 at age 54. He was born January 28, 1961 in Williamsport, PA to the late Slum and Connie Summerson. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Laura Summerson. They were married at St. Joseph Church on August 16, 1986 and celebrated 29 wonderful years together. Also survived by his daughter, Brittany "Summerson" Anderson, who was blessed to be walked down the aisle by Dale on September 28, 2013 as she married his now son-in-law Michael Anderson. Ashley Morgan, Brittany's best friend since birth, was like a second daughter to Dale. Gavin Becker, who Dale viewed as a grandson, is also survived by his death along with many family and friends from across the United States including his hometown of Renovo, PA; Harrisburg, PA; California, Florida, and Maryland. Dale graduated from Bucktail High School in 1978 and worked retail since the age of 16. Many of Dale's closest friendships were made during those years; especially Dave, Woodall and Ray. Over the course of their lifelong friendships, those people weren't just friends; they were family. Dale made sure Brittany had plenty of "uncles" to look out for her. Dale spent his last 5 years with Mantech doing a job he loved with wonderful coworkers. He was an avid concert goer, a member of the Son's of Italy, Penn State Season Ticketholder since the '70's and a huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Family and friends could always count on Dale for a smile when they needed it; whether it be through a good joke, a sarcastic comment, or the contagious love that he had for the life he lived and those he was blessed to share it with. These moments will be deeply missed by everyone. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sat., Dec. 19, 2015 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo with the Rev. Matthew Laffey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph Church or Bucktail Medical Center.
