Dale L. Singer

LANCASTER- Dale L. Singer, 85, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle-Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Carol J. (Junn) Singer and the late Catherine M. (Harkins) Smith. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 4PM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Cross Road Brethren In Christ Church, 800 Donegal Springs Rd., Mt. Joy, PA, with his Pastors, Carl Shank and Sean Muldowney, officiating. A viewing will be held from 3-4PM prior to the service. A Graveside service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Centerville Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born March 5, 1933 in Massillon, Ohio, Dale was a son to the late Clyde Milton and Bertha Viola (Baker) Singer. He worked as a school teacher for the Eastern York School District for 33 years until his retirement in 1997. Dale was a member of Cross Roads Brethren Christ Church. Mr. Singer served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa. He was an avid sportsman. Dale was a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, the Penn State Education Association, of which he served as a former officer, the National Education Association, and the York Rock & Mineral Club. Mr. Singer is survived by his four sons, Jacob, David, Stephen, Daniel and their families; a foster daughter, Brenda Reese; and siblings, Paul Singer and Viola Smith. In addition to his wives and parents, Dale was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde, Jr., Elmer, Kenneth and Harry.
