Dale G. Dettinger

YORK- Dale G. Dettinger, Jr., 71, died on Friday, January 28, 2022 at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Silk-Dettinger for 50 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Born on October 6, 1950 in York, he was a son of the late Dale and Mae (Arnold) Dettinger, Sr. Dale was a service technician at Colony Packaging & Machine for over 30 years until his retirement in 2021. Dale was a member of Columbia Hill Climbers Four Wheel Drive Club, Delaware Racers and Susquehannocks 4 Wheelers, Inc. He loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr., 4X4 racing and animals. Along with his wife, Dorothy, Dale is survived by his nephew, Aaron Jacobs, and his wife, Abby of York; two nieces, Leah Schade and her husband, Jim of Lexington, KY and Pearl Pickens and her husband, Mike of York; two great nephews; five great nieces; and brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Peggy Jacobs of York.
