YORK - Dale E. Lehr, 86, died Friday morning, February 17, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of Erika A. (Pudell) Lehr with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on September 27, 2011. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George St., York with his pastor, the Rev. Beth A. Schlegel officiating. A time for visitation with the family will immediately follow the service. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lehr was born December 14, 1925, in North York. He was the son of the late Adam Henry and Nora Judith (Bare) Lehr. He retired in 1987 as the Plant Manager of Rutter’s Dairy after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a 1943 graduate of North York High School and was a US Army veteran of World War II serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 283rd Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lehr is survived by his brother, John Lehr of Dover Twp., and his sister, Lois Smith of York. He was preceded in death by three brothers, E. Sargent Lehr, A. Henry Lehr and Charles “Peck” Lehr; and two sisters, Phyllis Charleston and Julia Poet. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Renewal Fund, 947 N. George St., York, PA 17404 or the SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
