Dale David Fitz

Dale David Fitz, 89, born August 7, 1928, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 7, 2017, at his home in the Normandie Ridge Community, York, PA. He was the son of the late Isaac McDowell and Meda Ellen (Markey) Fitz, and was preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Russell, and Wayne Fitz. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Sieling Fitz, brothers Thomas Fitz and wife Virginia of York and James Fitz of Chicago, Illinois; his three children: Steven and wife Laura (Richardson) of York; Elaine and her husband Roger Ward of Georgetown, Kentucky; and Dean and his wife Deanna (Elliott) of Fort Collins, Colorado; his 8 grandchildren: Matthew Fitz, York, PA; Timothy Fitz and wife Amanda Wixted, Austin, TX; Rachel Ward, Berkeley, CA; Kara Ward, Louisville, KY; Brett Fitz, Cedar Falls, IA; Samantha Fitz, Alexys Fitz, and Kristin Fitz, Fort Collins, CO; and his great granddaughter Ruby Wixted, Austin, TX. Dale had a deep and abiding faith and was a lifetime member of New Fairview Church of the Brethren. He retired from Duplex Products, and had previously worked for Rutter's Dairy delivering milk. He and Mary also owned a laundromat in east York for many years. Dale cherished his wife and family, and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, and attending ball games. He also enjoyed sharing laughter, jokes, and ice cream with those he loved. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at New Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1873 New Fairview Church Road, York, with his Pastor, The Rev. Wayne S. Hartman, officiating. Viewing will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in New Fairview Cemetery.
