WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Dale D. "Big D" Brenneman, 72, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his home in West York. He was the husband of Shirley K. (Spangler) Brenneman. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 340 E. Market Street in York. His pastor, The Reverend Dr. S. Philip Covert will be officiating at the service. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York and Monday 10-11 a.m. at church. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Mr. Brenneman was born in West Manchester Twp. on October 16, 1936, a son of the late Wilfred Titus and Florence (Butcher) Brenneman. He owned and operated a Tydol Flying A Gas and Service Station in West York and later a used car business, the former S.K. Motors. For most of his life he was a Nationwide Insurance Agent, with 50 years of service. He also owned and operated a notary and license service since 1963. The family owned insurance and messenger service is now run by the children and their spouses. Mr. Brenneman was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in York, attended West York High School, Class of 1954. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Viking Club and Hawk's Club. He was President and Treasurer of West York Boy's Club and helped start other Boy's Club organizations in York County. He loved sports; especially golf, Orioles Baseball, and Penn State Football. Mr. Brenneman leaves six children: Dale A Brenneman and his wife Cheryl of Marriottsville, MD, Timothy S. Brenneman and his wife Patti of York, Gregory L. Brenneman and his wife Susan of York, Steven D. Brenneman and his wife Lisa of York, Lauri L. (Brenneman) Miller and her husband Keith of Dover, and Thomas D. Brenneman and his wife Karen of York; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Delores L. Stein of York. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Marguerite Brenneman; a brother, Richard Brenneman, and a sister, Helen Thoman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417-C Concord Rd., York, PA 17402, American Diabetes Association, 3544 N.
