Daisy G. (Goheen) Rexroth

Airville—Daisy G. (Goheen) Rexroth, 87, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Wilmer E. Rexroth to whom she married 45 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Born November 23, 1924 in York, she was a daughter of the late Austin Goheen and Rebecca Swartz. Along with her husband, she farmed on the half for H.R. Stitely in Felton and later they purchased their own farm in Airville in 1963. For many years she milked cows at both farms. She was dedicated to her job and worked hard all of her life. In addition to her career on the farm, she also was employed for several years at various cigar factories in Red Lion, including Neff’s Cigar Company. She was a great cook and until her recent illness prepared meals for Jeff and herself. Reading the daily paper and talking with her sisters and friends on the phone was a must. She enjoyed watching game shows and old tv shows from the 50’s and 60’s, spending time taking care of her garden and violets and loved attending family reunions and the St. James School reunion. Mrs. Rexroth is survived by one son, Jeffrey Rexroth; one daughter, Joanne McDermott; two grandchildren, Scott McDermott and his wife, Jennifer and Crystal Ziegler and husband, Kyle; 2 great grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters, Virginia Sprenkle, Shirley Holtzinger, Evelyn Frey and Gloria Haugh, her cat and “best friend”, Buzz and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Swartz and George Swartz. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made SPCA, 3159 N. The family is requesting that everyone attending Mrs. Rexroth’s Celebration of Life Service dress casually.
