Daisy E. (Shaffer) Kunkle

LEWISBERRY- Daisy E. (Shaffer) Kunkle, 89, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service will be 11a.m. Monday, November 19, 2007, at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry, with the Rev. Sue Ulrich officiating. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry. Mrs. Kunkle was born in Rudytown, on April 5, 1918, a daughter of the late Levi and Mary Shaffer. She married the late Kenneth I. Kunkle. Mrs. Kunkle was a self-employed housekeeper for many years, until retiring in 1981. She enjoyed going to the Red Land Senior Center with friends. She collected buttons and enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. Mrs. Kunkle loved to read the bible. She was a great mom and grandma. Mrs. Kunkle is survived by two sons, Luther Myers of Wellsville and Lawrence Kunkle of Dillsburg; six daughters, Ruth Albright of Lewisberry, Judy Myers of York Haven, Helen Schmuck of Dover, Emma Ferree of York, Rosemary Edleblute of Wrightsville, and Connie Shive of York; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Helen Myers, and three sons, Charles and Ken Kunkle, and Lester Myers, preceded her in death.
