D. Dale Gentzler

YORK- D. Dale Gentzler, 89, died on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Cathryn D. (Creager) Gentzler, to whom he was married for 68 years. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 700 N. George St., York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating and full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral cortege will form at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance at 10:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on October 12, 1926 in York, he was a son of the late Earl E. and Mabel Mae (Smith) Gentzler. Dale was a 1944 graduate of West York High School. He owned and operated Gentzler Brothers Meat Market with his brother and was a director for Associated Wholesalers, Inc. and Fair’s Seafood. Mr. Gentzler served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. Dale was a former member of the Dallastown Lions Club. Along with his wife, Cathryn, Dale is survived by one son, Michael S. Gentzler of York; one daughter, Judy Stevens and her husband, Walter of York; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons; one brother, Edward W. Gentzler; and one sister, Anna Mae Roth.
