Curtis R. Ness

STEWARTSTOWN – Curtis R. Ness, 69, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 as a result of injuries sustained in a farm accident. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Schwab) Ness to whom he was married for 34 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Life Center at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion with his pastor, The Rev. Steven C. Almquist officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-11:00 AM Saturday in the Life Center. Full military rites will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard at 11:00 AM at the Church. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born March 15, 1945 in Cherry Hill, NJ a son of the late George G. Gracey and Margaret P. (Ness) Rohrbaugh, he was a graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Mr. Ness worked as a self employed remodeling contractor. He was a member of Living Word Community Church where he was a Growth Group Leader and served on the Ushering Team. Curtis was also a member of Red Lion VFW and American Legion. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Mr. Ness is survived by two sons, Douglas R. Carpenter and companion Mandy Achterberg of Red Lion and Thomas A. Carpenter and partner John Berga of Dunedin, FL; and a grandson, Joshua D. Carpenter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Word Church, 2530 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356. Curt was dearly loved and will be missed by his wife, sons, grandson, and many friends. He will always be remembered for his generous acts of kindness toward everyone he met.
