POTTSVILLE - Curtis O. Brower, 88, of Pottsville, died Friday morning at Rest Haven Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven. Born in Leary Texas on August 23, 1923, he was a son of the late Lawrence V. and Alma Shipp Brower. Curtis was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 3rd Armor Spearhead Division. On May 31, 1946 he married the late Sara Urch Brower, who died November 27, 1991. Until retiring, Curtis was employed as a tool and die maker for Bound Brook. He also worked for Cressona Aluminum and was also a tree surgeon for Penn Line. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a trustee. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and the VFW. He was a also a member of the Schuylkill County Woodcarvers and the Allied Artists. Surviving Curtis are: two daughters, Merrily and her husband John Diefenderfer, Mar Lin and Judith and her husband Louis Genovese, Palo Alto; a son, Barry Brower and his wife Marie, Pottsville; five grandchildren, Louise and her husband Tory Jenkins, Schuylkill Haven, Gena and her husband Albert Brennan, Schuylkill Haven, Stacey and her husband Matthew Bolick, North Carolina, Timothy and his wife Anna Brower, North Carolina, and Tiffiny and her husband Josh Eifert, Pottsville; nine great grandchildren; a brother Lawrence “Van” Brower, New Mexico; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Curtis was preceded in death by: a sister Cora Moores. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 9 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, with Pastor Randy Ott officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 8 until time of service. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 701 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
