Craig R. Spangler

MANCHESTER - Craig R. "Spang" Spangler, 53, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Diana M. (Shue) Spangler to whom he was married for 24 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Rev. Thomas D. Bellis officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-9:00 PM Wednesday and 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born May 19, 1956 in York, a son of Joanne M. (Mummert) and Clair R. Spangler, Jr. of York, he graduated from Dallastown Area High School and had attended Penn State-York. Spang was a longtime employee for Columbia Gas Transmission and worked for UGI Utilities. He was a member of York Co. Harley Davidson Owners, Inc., where he was a past-president and life member; NDHP Motorcycle Club; ABATE Motorcycle organization; Codorus Social Club; and the Prince Athletic Assoc. His Masonic affiliations include, White Rose Lodge 706 Free and Accepted Masons, and Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court, 106 Order of the Amaranth. In addition to his wife and parents, Spang is survived by a stepson, George R. Lepley, Jr. and wife Melissa of Dover; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Gage, and Darrah Lepley; maternal grandmother, Miriam M. Mummert of York; three brother in laws, Jim, Ken, and Scott Shue; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Constance R. "Connie" Heindel.
