Cordelia P. (Mackley) Englar

Cordelia P. Englar, 89, of York, PA and Bushnell, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 22, 2018 at Gilchrist Hospice Center, Towson, MD with her daughter by her side. Born March 20, 1929 in Union Bridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late Roland E. and Blanche I. (Coe) Mackley, Sr. She is survived by a daughter, Marcia L. Englar of Red Lion, a brother, Roland E. Mackley, Jr. and wife June of York, and many relatives and friends. She graduated from Taneytown High School (Taneytown, MD), York beauty culture school, and had her own beauty salon for many years. She later graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a double major in information systems and accounting, and was retired from the Commonwealth of PA. She was a computer systems analyst in the Office of the Comptroller and later at PA Department of Health. She was a life-long learner with many interests. She loved music, playing the piano, was an avid crafter (including quilt items for juried craft shows), and loved to travel (especially throughout the United States in her motorhome). She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, the Penn State Alumni Association, RV groups (Escapees, Loners on Wheels, RVing Women, Good Sam Club), and was a member and past president of Quota (International) Club of York. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018 beginning at 10 am at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 East Market St, York, with the Reverend Daniel V. Biles officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9-9:50 am at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org or 924 N. Colonial Ave. York, PA 17403), the Humane Society of Harrisburg (7790 Grayson Rd Harrisburg, PA 17111), or Advent Lutheran Church’s Capital Campaign.
