Constance M. (Adolphson) Thornburg

POTTSVILLE - Constance M. "Connie" Thornburg, 72, of Pottsville died Monday night at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Connie was born in Springfield, Minn, on May 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Wilbert and Alice (Kent) Adolphson. She graduated from Sanborn High School in 1952. On May 14th 1955, she married the late Melvin J. Thornburg, who died May 31, 2001. Connie was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville. She was formerly employed at the York Terrace Nursing Center, as a nurses' aid. Connie was a proud life member of the PTA. Surviving are: two sons, Kevin J. Thornburg, husband of Marie, Minersville and Alan J. Thornburg, of Greensburg; two daughters, Kim A, wife of Patrick Murphy, Pottsville and Lori, wife of Stephen Kilpatrick, Johnstown, PA; 10 grandchildren, Kristina Thornburg, Sean Murphy, K.J. Thornburg, Jennifer Kilpatrick, Mark Thornburg, Mallory Murphy, Eric Thornburg, Andrew Kilpatrick, Kate Thornburg and Sarah Kilpatrick; a sister, Joan Adolphson, Pottsville; a brother, Richard Adolphson, husband of Kay, Hudson, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 6th & W. Market St. Pottsville, with the Rev. James Smith and Jeff Byerly officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7-9 and Friday from 9 AM until time of service.
