Colonel (Ret.) Edward R. Visker

LEWISBERRY – Colonel (Ret.) Edward R. Visker, 64, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Cynthia J. (Michalski) Visker to whom he was married for 41 years. Ed was born on November 4, 1956 in Albany, NY; a son of Mary Clare (Daly) Visker of Albany and the late Edward W. Visker. He was a life-long learner; in addition to his Bachelor’s degree, Ed earned Master’s degrees from the University of Southern California and the Army War College, as well as his certification in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. Ed proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years, and upon his retirement continued to work for the Defense Logistics Agency for 15 years. Ed was an advocate for veterans and enjoyed working with organizations such as: LEEK Hunting & Mountain Preserve and Root for Boots. He was also an avid golfer and played in several golf leagues. More than anything, Ed was very supportive, and dedicated to his family. In addition to his wife and mother, Ed is survived by three daughters, Heather V. and husband Brad Cross of White House Station, NJ, Melissa A. Visker of Lewisberry, PA and Lacey A. and husband Joseph Clemens of York Haven, PA; two grandchildren, Sophia and Drew Cross; three brothers, Michael and wife Catherine Visker of Denver, NC, Christopher and wife Kelly Visker of Albany, NY and Derek and wife Gabriela Visker of Branchburg, NJ; and two sisters, Kirsten Barry, and Kathleen and husband Eric Rutledge both of Albany, NY. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Visker (Candie Boyt). A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 3-4:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel.
