YORK- Collins L. Lunger, 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Joyce E. (Quickel) Lunger to whom he was married 26 years.
A celebration of life tribute service will be held later in the spring. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.
Born on November 24, 1944 in Somerville, NJ, he was a son of the late Leo R. and Evelyn R. (Dody) Lunger. Collins was an assistant professor teaching machine shop at the Community College of Baltimore County.
Mr. Lunger served our country for four years and four months in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was a POW and later received two purple hearts. He was a proud member of the York County Veterans Honor Guard, life member of the West York VFW Post 895 and a member of Moose Lodge 1381 in Westminster, MD.
Along with his wife, Joyce, Collins is survived by three sons, Kevin Lunger of York, Jared Lunger of York and Kyle Lunger of York; daughter, Sarah Santana and her husband, David of Dover; several grandchildren; brother, Reggie Lunger and his wife, Donna of York; three sisters, Sandy Bittner of Colonial Heights, VA, Beverly Reidinger of York and Carla Hoffman and her husband, Raymond of New Oxford; several nieces and nephews; and a ton of friends. He was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles.
