RENOVO - Clyde V. Haupt, Sr., age 95, died peacefully at the Bucktail Medical Center on Friday, October 30, 2009. He was born in Farwell on April 21, 1914, a son of the late Marcellus L. and Flora Mae (Coover) Haupt. Clyde was a graduate of the Renovo High School. He was a life member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Renovo. He was a brilliant mechanical engineer, working for the Pennsylvania. Railroad, Berwick and Chemcon during his career. He also worked at the CCC camps as a radio operator during his younger years. Clyde was a member of Renovo Lodge #495/F. & A. M., and the A.A.S.R./Valley of Williamsport. He was an accomplished musician who played with a local band in the Renovo area for many years. He also composed two songs: "Along the Bucktail Trail", which was played at the Williamsport Consistory, and during the 1990 Clinton County Band Festival at the Lock Haven University, and also "The Railroader", which was played by the United States Marine Band in the Flaming Foliage Festival Parade in 1991. Clyde's father wrote the lyrics, and Clyde penned the music for a hymn titled "Saul of Tarsus", which is often played and sung at the Zion Church. Clyde was preceded in death by his wife of many years Alice J. (Brooks) Haupt in 2002. Also preceding him in death were his son Robert, and his brothers Francis and Norman Haupt. Surviving is his son Clyde V. (Mary) Haupt, Jr., of Grand Island, NY, and his daughter Donna (Larry) Lucas of Waterford. Clyde is also survived by his grandchildren Kelly Reinke of FL, Sandra Horan of SC, and Linda Lindrose of PA; six great grandchildren; his sisters Iola Cline of Montoursville, and Annabelle McAfee of Keedysville, MD; and his brother William Haupt of Roanoke, VA. Funeral services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1100 Huron Avenue, Renovo at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, November 04, 2009 with the Reverend Dee Calhoun officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church during the hour prior to the service. The Masonic service will be at 10:45 AM. Memorials are requested to the Zion Lutheran Church, or to the Bucktail Medical Center. Family interment will be in the North Bend Cemetery. Arrangements by Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo.
