HALLAM- Claudius William Bortner, 85, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at his residence. A Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Bortner was born in Glen Rock on January 6, 1930, the son of the late Claude Omer and Bessie Bell (Black) Bortner. He retired from Gichner’s in Dallastown. Mr. Bortner enjoyed traveling with his friends and fishing. He was a member of Riverside Masonic Lodge #503, Wrightsville American Legion #469, Red Lion VFW#1446, and Korean War Veteran Association. He served in the US Navy in the Korean War. Mr. Bortner leaves a son, Gary Bortner and his wife Patricia of York; a granddaughter, Jennifer Smaling and her husband James of Columbia; two great granddaughters, Kinsey and Nora Smaling; and two brothers, Robert and Jack Bortner.
