Claude F. Hinkle

York—Claude F. Hinkle, 94, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Providence Place. He was the husband of Anna C. (Miller) Hinkle. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage on February 13th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with his pastor, the Rev. Susan D’heedene officiating. Military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home. Preceding the service at the funeral will be a 10 AM, Graveside at Shiloh Cemetery. Born March 14, 1921 in York, he was a son of the late Ray M. and Mary M. (Spahr) Hinkle. He was a 1940 graduate of York Senior High School where he was a State Champion and 3 year All American High School Swimmer. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years of employment. A United States Navy Veteran he served during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the “Tin Can Sailors” and was also member of the Victory Athletic Assoc., W. York VFW #8951, Shiloh Fire Co., Dover AARP, York NARFE and Shiloh American Legion #791. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hinkle is also survived by his daughter Tami A. Beck and her fiancé, John Winsett of York; two granddaughters, Jenifer L. Walker of York and Laura M. Howard of Del Ray Beach, FL; one great granddaughter, Kirsten S. Watts; sister-in-law, Joan Hinkle of York and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Raymond Hinkle and one sister, Isabel Hinkle. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ, Memorial Building Fund, 2251 Willow Rd, York, PA 17408 Cemetery: Preceding the service at the funeral will be a 10 AM, Graveside at Shiloh Cemetery.
