Clarence S. "Sock" Fissel, Jr.

YORK- Clarence S. “Sock” Fissel, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Nancy R. (Breeden) Fissel and the late Eva (Nace) Fissel. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 N. Richland Ave., York, with Pastor Tanya Brubaker officiaiting. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military detail provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born August 27, 1928 in York, Sock was a son of the late Clarence S. and Elizabeth M. (Clancy) Fissel. He had a lifelong career of being a tool and die maker until his retirement at age 70. Sock was a member of the Shiloh American Legion, the West York VFW, and Viking Athletic Club. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and bowling. He loved to visit the beach, but his heart belonged most to his beloved family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Fissel served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Fissel is survived by a companion, Margie Sheffer of York; two sons, Michael Fissel and his wife Ann of Jacksonville, FL, and Barry Fissel and his wife Vicki of Dover; a daughter, Debra Rupp and her husband David of York; a stepson, Greg Morgan of York; a step daughter, Jennifer Lyter of Lewisberry; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fissel was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia McLane and Nancy Fissel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N.
