DOVER - Clarence M. Smith, 89, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Mary Rosella (Wintermyer) Smith. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2010 at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Lane, York. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery in Lewisberry with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Born April 27, 1921 in Franklintown, York Co., a son of the late Mervin W. and Mae (Firestone) Smith, he retired from Met Ed in 1981 after 35 years of service. Prior to working at Met Ed he had worked at Central Iron and Steel in Harrisburg. Mr. Smith was a member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed reading medical books and the Bible. He could also be found fixing bikes and toys. Mr. Smith loved spending time and teaching with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII where he served with the Seabees. Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Arlene J. and husband Charles Bolton of York; a son, Raymond G. and wife Janet Smith of York; three grandchildren, Ida Steed, Mary Busha, and John Smith; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rachel Steed and Osric Smith; and a brother, Lloyd Smith of Starview. He was preceded in death by a grandson, George Steed; a brother, Roy Smith; and a sister, Gladys Grace. Memorial contributions may be made to Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Ln., York, PA 17404.
