York-Clair R. Grim, 94, passed away Thursday December 30, 2010 at Normandie Ridge. He was the husband of the late Beatrice R. (Williams) Grim, to whom he was married for 66 years. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with his pastors, the Rev. Norman E. Spangler and the Rev. Craig A. Newton officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11 AM Tuesday, at the funeral chapel. Entombment will be held 1 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Mt. Rose Cemetery with a flag fold detail provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born December 20, 1916 in York, he was a son of the late Jennings B. Grimm Sr, and M. Edna (Rudisill) Grim Moul. He graduated from York High School in 1934 and later enrolled at Millersville University. In 1948 he earned a Bachelors\' Degree in Education from Millersville University and in 1949 received a Master\'s Degree in School Administration from Western Maryland College. He also took several courses at Penn State University. From 1937 through 1943 he taught at several area schools including, Pleasant Grove, Newberrytown, Taxville, and Bair\'s Station School. From 1946 through 1952 he taught at Shiloh, Smyser\'s and Mt. Rose Elementary Schools and later at Valley Elementary. In 1953 he became Supervisor of Southern Elementary School and in 1958 was hired as an Elementary Supervisor and Curriculum Coordinator for grades 1-12 at Dover Area. From 1964 until his retirement 1974 he was the Superintendent of Schools at Dover Area. He also taught course in administration and supervision at Western Maryland College and was part of the faculty at York Junior College. In 1943 he was inducted into the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, serving 2 years in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharge in 1946. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in York, PA Association of School Administrators, life member of National Education Association, Suburban School Board member, Vo-Tech School Board member and board V. President in 1988, Pa Trustee with the United Way, Boy Scout Commissioner, member of Mt. Rose Lions Club, National Association 6th Infantry Division, York County Schoolmen\'s Club, and member and past President of the York Twinning Association. Mr. Grim is survived by one sister, M. Elmira (Grim) Wise of York, three nieces, Darlene Shearer of York, Carol Larimer of Columbus, OH and Marsha Miller of Langhorne, three nephews, Samuel Wise of Dallastown, Norman Grimm of Manassas, VA and Bruce Williams of Levittown, 14 great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jennings B. Grimm Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
