Clair E. Walters, Sr.

YORK – Clair E. Walters, Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Wilda J. (Custer) Walters. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1401 Mt. Rose Avenue, York with Pastor Dennis L. McCleary officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Clair’s cremated remains will be placed in the Victorian Chapel at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born February 2, 1925 in York a son of the late Herman and Ruth A. (Naylor) Walters, he retired from GTE/Osram Sylvania after 33 years of service. Mr. Walters was a member of Springettsbury Ambulance Club and Bethany U.M. Church. He was a former member of Victory A.A., Shiloh American Legion, and Thirteenth Ward Political Club. Clair was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed by “his ladies” that he visited during his daily routine of coffee at Giant on E. Market Street and then lunch at Marino’s Pizza. Clair was a US Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Walters is survived by a son, Clair E. Walters, Jr. and wife Nancy of York; two daughters, Deborah R. and husband Curtis Hoerner of Red Lion and Pamela J. and husband Jimmy Bohle of Shiloh; five grandchildren, Theresa, Trenton, Brandon, Matthew, and Mandy; five great grandchildren, Tyler, Tevin, Dakota, Montania and Zackari; a sister, Noreen Gross of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.
