RED LION-Clair E. Leber, 91, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Manor Care-Kingston Court. He was the loving husband of Dorothy I. (Fox) Leber. The couple would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this Christmas Eve. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church, 5 Main Street, Yorkana, PA, 17402, with his pastor, the Rev. Forrest S. Bish, II officiating. A viewing will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Canadochly Cemetery with a flag folding provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Leber was born June 16, 1918 in York a son of the late Clarence E. and Carrie M. (Keller) Leber. He was a former employee of Hoover Body, York for 23 years, until moving to Buffalo, NY in 1960 where he worked for Union Corp. for two years. He then returned home and worked for Gichner Mobile Systems for 21 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Leber was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during WWII, where he also taught truck driving. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife, Mr. Leber is survived by two sons; Dennis E. Leber and companion, Thelma E. Filbey, and Robert E. Leber and wife, Linda S. all of York; two daughters Connie M. Workinger and husband, Darryl P. of Red Lion, and Jane C. Graham of York; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a sister Helen Miller of York; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Clair E. Leber, Jr.; a grandson, Jan M. Graham; a brother; six sisters; and son-in-law, Terry E. Graham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice Services, 218 E. Market St., York, PA, 17403 or to Christ United Methodist Church.
