YORK - C.J. Smith, 92, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Senior Commons at Powdermill Road, York. He was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Fellabaum) Smith to whom he was married for 65 years prior to her passing in June 2012. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 15 at Zion United Methodist Church of East Prospect, 1 North Main Street, East Prospect, PA 17317, with his Pastor, The Reverend Albert R. Horst officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born November 15, 1921 in Glen Rock, C.J. was a son of the late Clarence A. and Martha Daisy (Sietz) Smith. He worked as a controller for many years at York-Shipley Global, Hensel & Sons, Inc. in Harrisburg and a rehabilitation hospital in Mechanicsburg, from which he retired. Mr. Smith served our country during World War II in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Mr. Smith was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church of East Prospect. He was a graduate of Glen Rock High School, Class of 1939. He was a member of the F & AM, Peace River Lodge #66 in Arcadia, FL since 1944 and the Harrisburg Consistory since 1964. C.J. served as assistant Scout Master in Arcadia, FL, East Prospect and Boy Scout Troup #48 in Glen Rock. Mr. Smith is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to the staff of Senior Commons at Powdermill Road, the nurses of Caring Hospice Services of Lancaster and the caretakers Deanie Taylor King Personalized Home Care.
