Chester R. Snyder

NEW COLUMBIA- Chester R. Snyder, 77, of Huff Road, New Columbia, passed away at 3:40 PM on Friday, June 13, 2008 after a brief illness at the Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg. Born on December 24, 1930 in Milton, he was the son of the late Stoddard E. and Mabel I. (Burkey) Snyder. Chester is a 1950 graduate of Milton High School and a US Navy veteran. After the navy he worked for U.S. Steel in the Bristol Plant and then went to work for Chef Boyardee, from where he retired in 1992. Chester was a former member of the Milton Moose, was a lifetime member of the NRA, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always helped his friends and neighbors in their times of need. Chester is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Anna and Gary W. Moyer, Sr. of New Columbia, PA, and his grandchildren: Gary W. and Michelle Moyer, Jr. of Paxinos, PA, Brian M. Moyer of West Chester, PA, Whitney and Gary Hinkle, III of New Columbia, PA, and Adam C. Moyer of Williamsport, PA. Family and friends may call from 6:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Dale Ranck Funeral Service, Inc. 148 West Front Street Milton, PA. A time for family and friends to gather for a time of sharing will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday night after the viewing at the funeral home.
