Charlotte K. (Arnold) Hawkes

Red Lion—Charlotte Kathryn (Arnold ) Hawkes, passed away on November 27, 2015 at Manor Care-South. She was the loving wife of the late Edward C. Hawkes. Charlotte was born in New Bridgeville on the family farm of her grandparents on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Mordecai “Maud” and Mabel (Dietz) Arnold. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed eating out, having her hair done, rides in the car, vacationing with family, hosting picnics for her family, being with friends and family, teasing Pastor Ross, reading her Bible and above all else her love and faith in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was a member of Water’s Edge Church and attended Springwood Chapel. She leaves to cherish her memory, her caregiver & daughter, Carolyn L. Barnhart-Sipe and her husband, Ken; son, Earl E. Hawkes and his wife, Doris; daughter, Marie E. Koontz and her husband, Lester; son Rodney Hawkes and daughter Leisa Hawkes. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, and her sister Dorcas Enfield. Turning 90 was so very special to her. Carolyn and family hosted a large birthday party for her at Manor Care. She was so very happy. Charlotte wanted to thank Hedy, Kim, Grace, Amy and Aiesha of the 200 hall and BJ, Lori, Devin, Cheyenne and compassionate Syerra of the 500 hall of Manor Care-South for the love and excellent care shown to her, her blessing to each of you. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. Edward J. Ross, III officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Shenberger’s Chapel Cemetery.
