Charlotte D. (Reedy) Shollenberger

Charlotte D. Shollenberger, 67, of Port Carbon, died Saturday at the York Terrace Nursing Center. She was born in Pottsville, on December 29, 1939, a daughter of the late Jacob and Jessie (Kummerer) Reedy. She was a 1957 graduate of Pottsville High School, where she was the class president and a member of the National Honor Society. Charlotte was employed by the Pottsville School District, where one of her many duties included selling reserved tickets for the football games. She was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Charlotte served the community through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, where she held the office of secretary. She was the Fraternal Communicator between Thrivant Financial and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Charlotte served for many years as the secretary for the PSEA Clerical Workers Union. She was also a member of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society. Surviving Charlotte are: two daughters, Lori J. Shollenberger, of Easthampton, MA and Amy Beth Shollenberger, of Montpelier, VT; two sisters, Shirley Hicks, and Elizabeth Chescavage, both of Pottsville; a grandson, Jake Lee Shollenberger, of Montpelier, VT; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: seven brothers, Edward Reedy, Preston Reedy, William Reedy, Leonard Reedy, John Reedy, Jacob Reedy and Melvin "Alfie" Reedy; and two sisters, Mildred Lecher and Jessie Weihe. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 3, 2007, at 10:00 AM from the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Port Carbon. The Rev. Harold T. Hand and SALM Regnal Leibensperger will officiate. Family and friends may call Friday March 2nd from 6-8:30 PM at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, the former English Lutheran Church, where Charlotte was baptized and confirmed located at 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville and Saturday from 9 AM until time of service at the St. Paul's Lutheran church. Interment will be private, but all family members are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made to either: the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 213 N. Coal St., Port Carbon, PA 17965 or the Port Carbon Free Library, 111 Pike St., Port Carbon, PA 17965.
