Charles W. Luckey, Sr.

Charles William Luckey,Sr, of East Troy, PA, passed away at the Bradford County Manor on Thursday, January 8, 2009. He was the loving husband of Marion E. (Mingos) Luckey and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on January 12, 2009. Charles was born in Troy Township on April 15, 1926 son of the late Eugene L. and Sophia (Lamb) Luckey on the farm adjoining the farm where he later resided with his wife for 63 years and where they raised their five children. He was a farmer until went to work at Thatcher Glass in Elmira, NY, he retired in May 1985 after almost 33 years of service. He served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII with the United States Navy. His memberships included the Elmira Heights VFW Post #6083, Big Flats American Legion Post # 1612 and member of the Elmira Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #517 Survivors include his wife Marion E. Luckey of East Troy, PA, children, Charles W. Luckey, Jr. James R. Luckey, Marianne & Randy Everts, Kathy Turner all of Troy, PA and Louis & Dru Luckey of Marathon, NY, his loving grandchildren, Michelle Luckey, Mark Luckey-Gustina, Tod Everts, Toby Everts, Jason Luckey, Matthew Luckey, Michael Luckey, Rebecca Luckey, Darren Luckey, Heather Turner, Zachary Turner, four great-grandchildren, Adam Appleton, Alex Everts, Megan Everts, Elizabeth Luckey, special friend, John Turner of Troy, several nieces, nephews, cousins, brother & sisters-in-law and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Eleanor Morse, Helen Blow and Zelda Frederick. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 6 to 7 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy PA. His service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7 PM with Revered Gary Zuber officiating. Interment with military honors will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA.
