York—Charles W. Dell, 82, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ethel I. (Hahn) Dell. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born March 9, 1927 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Herman R. and Helen M. (Mummert) Dell. He was a 1945 graduate of William Penn High School and a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by Epstein and Sons for 26 years as a carpenter. A member of Vigilant Fire Company No. 1, he was also a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose-Hanover Lodge 227, 13th Ward Political Club, South End Democratic Club, Prince and Viking Athletic Associations, W. York V.F.W. Post 8951 and Shiloh American Legion Post 791 Mr. Dell is survived by two daughters, Darlene M. Eisenhour and her husband, Daniel of Dover and Gloria E. Berger and her husband, Timothy of York, one granddaughter, Danielle M. Scheivert and her husband Brian of York, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah Scheivert, one brother, James R. Dell of E. York, a companion of 13 years, Helen N. Stambaugh and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances and Rozella. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 208, York, Pa 17401.
