Charles S. Hershner, Sr.

RED LION – Charles S. Hershner, Sr., 66, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Mellinger) Hershner to whom he was married for 13 years. A graveside tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 AM. Born December 3, 1948 in York, a son of the late Charles L. and Betty Jane (Shirey) Hershner, he was a steel worker for 35 years at Readco in Red Lion and retired after 9 years of service at Abex Industries. Mr. Hershner enjoyed hunting and camping. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hershner is survived by two sons, Charles S. Hershner, Jr. of Delta and Richard L. Hershner of Dallastown; a stepson, Steven R. Blouse of Winterstown; a daughter, Michelle L. and husband Lonnie Link of Jacobus; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Timothy and wife Judy Hershner of Homosassa, FL and Dennis and wife Linda Hershner of New Park; two stepbrothers, James Flinchbaugh of Montana and Terry Flinchbaugh of State College; and a stepsister, Shirley Grim of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maggie E. Dellinger whom he took care of for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, 50 N.
