RED LION- Charles Ray “Chuck” Ferguson, 70, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 after a long battle with lung cancer. Chuck was the loving husband of Catherine (Bartczak) Ferguson. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with his brother in law, the Reverend Joseph H. Bartczak officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Those traveling to the cemetery are asked to arrive at 2 p.m. near the office. Chuck was born on October 31, 1940 in Sylacauga, AL, a son of the late Mattie Love Smith Ferguson and Wayne Ford Ferguson. He enlisted in the US Army at age 17 and served our country for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam and Korea. After retiring from the Army in 1978, he had several manufacturing jobs and then retired as a security officer at the Defense Logistics Command, New Cumberland, PA. Chuck enjoyed life, his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand. One of his favorite times was his daily visits to The Meadow Hill Restaurant where he enjoyed bantering with the waitresses and discussing the day’s events with his many friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Along with his beloved wife, Catherine, Chuck is survived by a loving son, Robert V. Ferguson of New Bridgeville; a cherished grandson, Derrick A. Ferguson; a loving brother, Robert Floyd Ferguson of Sylacauga, AL; and a sister, Jennie Elizabeth Ferguson of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Wayne Ferguson and John Dalton Ferguson; and a sister Newell Ferguson all of Sylacauga, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 Colonial Ave., York, PA, 17403.
