Red Lion—Charles R. Powers Sr, 78, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his daughter’s residence. He was the husband of the late Erlene E. (Graybill) Powers. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Aaron Kunce of Living Word Community Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born January 8, 1933 in York, he was a son of the late Joseph B. and Elsie M. (Ritz) Powers. He was employed as a sub assembler for 20 plus years with Harley-Davidson until his retirement in 2000. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed fishing and served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Powers is survived by a son, Charles R. Powers Jr, and wife, Jayne of Red Lion; two daughters, Velvet L. Kyle and husband, Edward of Clifton Park, NY and Melissa V. Trimmer of Red Lion, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; one brother, John “Butch” Lentz of Red Lion; one sister, Dolly Smith of York and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Shifflet, Betty Schlinkman and Pearl Matthews and four brothers, Earl Warner, Joseph Powers, Paul Lentz and Walter Lentz.
