Red Lion — Charles R. 'Chuck' Hoover, 66, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret J. “Peggy” (Mellinger) Hoover. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Sarah Rentzel Jones, officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born October 26, 1945 in York, he was the son of the late Willis M. and Margaret K. (Smith) Hoover. He was a 1963 graduate of William Penn High School. Charles and his wife established Chuck and Peggy’s Food Service, a small business which operated a local lunch truck until his retirement in 2004. He was previously employed as Regional Director of Operations with Hardee’s for many years. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Red Lion and Optimist International. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus and spending time on the internet analyzing stock information. Mr. Hoover is survived by one son, Robert A. Hoover and wife, Judy of Windsor; one daughter, Barbara A. Doll and husband, Brian of Red Lion; one grandson, Matthew R. Doll, and Chuck's girlfriend, Barbara A. Keener of York. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., Memorial and Honor Program, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, Pa 17110 or SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, Pa 17406.
