BETHLEHEM - Charles Marco Sabatini, 74, a former resident of Renovo, passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Saint Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem, PA. He was born in Renovo, PA on March 29, 1937 a son of Margaret and Rocco (Sette) Sabatini. On October 17, 1964 he married Sylvia Jean (Sy) Bratton in Renovo. “Charlie” attended Saint Joseph Catholic School in Renovo before venturing to Philadelphia to attend barber school. Upon returning to Renovo he opened Charlie’s Barber shop on Huron Avenue and remained in business for more than ten years. Charlie then joined Prudential Insurance Company, where he worked as a Financial Analyst for twenty years. Charlie was an avid golfer and a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees. He and his wife organized the first Youth Girls Softball Organization in Renovo, where he actively coached and managed for many years. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Sons of Italy and the Elks Club as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to read and take walks along the Susquehanna River, but his biggest love in his life was family gatherings; in particular, the annual family reunion camping trip to Knoebels. Along with his wife Sylvia of 47 years, he is survived by two daughters Kim (Don) Seyler of Mill Hall and Ann (Troy) Hagenbuch of Easton, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren who he adored tremendously, Devin, Margaret, Collin, Clayton and Carli. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo with the Rev. Charles Ugo officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society (Clinton Unit) 1945 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, Improvement Fund. The Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo, is handling arrangements.
