RENOVO - Charles J. Poleto of 135 4th Street, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2014 after a brief stay at Bucktail Medical Center’s Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Renovo on October 4, 1919 to the late John G. and Carmela (Greico) Poleto. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and enlisted in the Coast Guard and entered Active Duty on May 20, 1942 and was Honorably Discharged on March 2, 1946. He worked 28 ½ years for the Pennsylvania Rail Road and then at Berwick Forge and Fabricating before retiring. He also owned and operated the Keystone Hotel. He married Yolanda M. Pagnotto in St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Jersey Shore, PA on August 31, 1946. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Renovo. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy, the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. In his younger years he was an avid pool player, was in a bowling league in Lock Haven and played baseball for the Renovo Men’s Baseball League. He also enjoyed playing cards. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Steve Kisko of East Renovo, a granddaughter Stephanie (Eric) Probert of Renovo and a grandson Stephen Charles Kisko (Tiffany Allen) of Lock Haven; three great grandchildren, Benjamin Ivan Probert and Kayla Marie Probert of Renovo and Hunter Charles Kisko of Lock Haven. Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy (Poleto) Rathsack of Manitowac, Wisconsin, a sister-in-law, Carmel Pagnotto of Jersey Shore and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Victor and Mary Pagnotto of Sarasota, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Poleto and Angelo Poleto, a sister, Angeline (Poleto) Borths and nephews John Poleto and Rickie Poleto. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Renovo at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Hyner. Father Charles Ugo will be the celebrant. Flowers will be provided by the family. Memorials are requested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Improvement Fund, 925 Huron Avenue, Renovo, PA 17764 or Bucktail Medical Center, 1001 Pine Street, South Renovo, PA 17764. Maxwell Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
