YORK- Charles H. Anstine, Jr., 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Manor Care North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Margie M. (Garber) Anstine. A Funeral Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Ronald S. French of Winterstown United Methodist Church, officiating. A viewing will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Charles was born in York on August 7, 1923, a son of the late Charles H. and Lula B. (Gilbert) Anstine. He was a graduate of William Penn High School. Charles joined the US Army and served during WWII. The service took him to Italy, Africa, France, and Germany. He was a member of the VFW Post# 1446 Red Lion, the American Legion Post # 791 in Shiloh, a life member of the Girard Club, and a life member of the Victory Club. Charles was also an avid hunter and fisher. He was also a member of Yorkana Rod and Gun Club. Surviving Charles is his daughter, Kathy J. and her husband, Chester Thomas of York; a grandson, Casey S. and his wife, Vanessa Thomas of Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Anstine of Dillsburg; and his "granddaughter" black Labrador, Maggie. A son, Terry L. Anstine; a grandson, Kevin W. Thomas, two brothers, William and Gerard Anstine; and a sister, Floe Havens precede him in death.
