Charles F. Holmes, Jr.

RED LION – Charles F. Holmes, Jr., 74, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Koubek) Holmes with whom he would have celebrated 18 years of marriage on Dec. 20, 2021. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 2-4:00 PM and 7-9:00 PM at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will take place at 12:30 PM Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003 with full military honors provided by the US Marine Corps. Born January 1, 1947 in Baltimore, a son of the late Melissa V. (Dize) and Charles F. Holmes, Sr.; he was a graduate of Polytechnical Institute in Baltimore. Charles had retired from the former Bell Atlantic after many years of service. He was a member of Dallastown American Legion Post 605 and had coached youth sports when his children were school age. Mr. Holmes enjoyed woodworking, watching old movies on TV and picking crabs. He was truly a jack of all trades and loved using his hands and tools to build and fix things for his family and friends. Charles was a US Marine Corps veteran of The Vietnam War. In addition to his wife, Mr. Holmes is survived by a daughter, Angela M. and husband Steve Tipton of Red Lion; and two grandsons, Holden and Brodie Tipton. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles F. Holmes, III.
