YORK- Charles F. Ettinger, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Carol I. Klunk-Ettinger, with whom he celebrated 13 years of marriage on April 13, 2014, and the late Carlin (Diffendarfer) Ettinger. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating the service. A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Born November 23, 1934 in York, Charles was a son of the late Charles Edward and Elizabeth (Keiser) Ettinger. He worked as a farmer and also as a pipefitter for York Shipley for 25 years. Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also liked trains and chicken farming; and he treasured his horses. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ettinger is survived by four sons, Jeff Ettinger, Charles Ettinger, Jr., Steve Ettinger, and Ed Ettinger; one daughter, Sue (Ettinger) Kitlinski; two step-daughters, Lisa Shipley and Diane Beck; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, David Ettinger, and two sisters, Doris Grift and Barb Latshaw. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ettinger was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Ettinger and James Ettinger, and a sister, Norma Bowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
