Charles E. Stouch

YORK TOWNSHIP, Charles E. Stouch, 94, of Senior Commons, formerly of Red Lion, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline C. (Smith) Stouch for 63 years prior to her death on September 11, 2010. He is survived by a brother, Karl E. Stouch of Drexel Hill and was a companion to Jane Nunn and the late Dorothy Van Brunt at Senior Commons. Born on May 16, 1920 in Hopewell Township, he was the son of the late David E. and Ada S. (Archer) Stouch. Charles was a 1939 graduate of Red Lion High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp during the entire duration of World War II. He served as a quartermaster in the 36 Air Depot Group during the North Africa, Sicily and Italian campaigns, where he received the bronze star for his actions during the Battle of Kasserine Pass, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1945. He worked at the Red Lion Cabinet Company and was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Sunday School, numerous Masonic affiliations, V.F.W. Post 14,000 in Washington D.C., American Legion Post 605 in Dallastown, Red Lion Lions Club, a former volunteer fire police officer with Leo Fire Company, and a former volunteer ambulance attendant and first responder with Red Lion Ambulance Association. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. Timothy Funk officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM, Friday, at the church. Burial will be held in Red Lion Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard.
