Red Lion — Charles E. “Red” Gross, 84, died January 21, 2014 at The Haven at Springwood. He was the husband of Fayne N. (Neff) Gross to whom he was married for 59 years on October 23rd. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., with Pastor Troy Harrold of Christ United Methodist Church in Yoe officiating. A visitation will be held from 12-1 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Yoe Union Cemetery. Born June 5, 1929 in Newberrytown, he was a son of the late Harry and Sarah (Traver) Gross. He was a 1947 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School. He was employed with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union of Harrisburg Local #520 and was later elected as their Business Agent, a position he held for 10 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a 50 year member of Local #520 Plumbers and Pipefitters, as well the Free & Accepted Masons-Red Lion Lodge #649 and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon-York Forest #30. He was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Yoe, Yoe Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Yoe Borough Council, Dallastown-Yoe Water Authority and Yoe Borough Sewer Authority and was a member of the former Yoe Lions Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gross is also survived by, a daughter, Nan Y. DeStefano and her husband, Edward of King of Prussia; a son, Todd H. Gross and his wife, Kim of York; two brothers, Larry Gross of York and Thomas Gross of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Harry Jr., Paul and Donald Gross. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 81 North Main Street, Yoe, Pa 17313. The family wishes to thank the staff in the Wesley Unit of The Haven At Springwood and Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving attention to 'Red' while he was in their care.
