WEST YORK Charles E. "Cork" Yeaple, Jr., 63, of West Manchester Twp., died Friday evening, March 16, 2007, while visiting at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Linda Yeaple. Born June 26, 1943, in York, he was the son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Mary (Mann) Yeaple. Cork began his working career in the early '60's as a shortorder cook at the former Moser's Restaurant in West York. Later, in the early '70's, he went on to become an on-air radio personality with the former WNOW AM and FM in York. He will also be remembered for his time on air with WHVR in Hanover, where he created Corky's Sound Memory Show, and for his time co-anchoring a music show with York's radio legend, Doc Daugherty. He concluded his career in radio at WOYK in York and returned to the restaurant business where he was a head cook with Lee's Diner for the past 13 years. Cork was also very proud of the record collection he began as a teenager and of his service time with the United States Army. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Linda Yeaple of West York; his half brother, Allen Eckert of Shiloh; and nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, followed by cremation. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 208, York, PA 17401; or to a charity of your choice.
