YORK HAVEN - Charles E. Blauser, Jr., 86, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Betty N. [Biser] Blauser to whom he was married for 44 years on March 21, 2008. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Born September 7, 1921 in York a son of the late Charles E. and Elsie [Hauff] Blauser, he was a graduate of William Penn High School. He worked as an appliance mechanic for Careva Co. and its successor, Raub Supply, retiring in 1984 after 38 years of service. Charlie was an avid sports fan and loved spending time outdoors fishing, golfing, and camping with his family and friends. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a chief gunner's mate aboard the USS Jenks during the capture of the German U505 sub off the coast of Dakar, Africa. He was also a member of Pleasureville American Legion, Post 799. In addition to his wife, Mr. Blauser is survived by a son, Charles E. Blauser, III and his wife Donna Blauser of Hedgesville, WVA; two daughters, Susan Silverman of Chicago, IL and Diana Crowe of Coatesville; a stepson, Bradley E. and wife Susan Shoop of Etters; two grandsons, Kyle and Brandon Shoop of Etters; four sisters, Beatrice Hench of Dover, Gloria Ritter of York Haven, and Vera Riley and Jeanette Beaverson both of York. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Burton Shoop; and a sister, Maythorne Lau. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 220 Williams Ave., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
