Charles D. Young

Troy, PA Charles D. Young, Age 90 formerly of East Smithfield, PA passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Bradford County Manor. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 1 to 2 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Charles's service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 PM with Rev. Frank Monroe former pastor of the Wetona United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Wetona Cemetery. Charles was born May 12, 1918 son of the late Elisha and Maude (Storch) Young. He served his country during WW II with the US Army in Italy and Northern Apennines. Charles and the former Shirley L. Garrison were married December 31, 1946. Charles worked as a milkman for Fox Chase Farms and then drove Bulk Tank Truck for East Smithfield Farms. He later worked construction for many years prior to his retirement. Charles was a member of the Wetona United Methodist Church, VFW and American Legion Posts in Troy, PA. He enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing and playing Santa Claus during the holiday season. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley L. Young of Troy, PA, son and daughter-in-law, Doug & JaNell Young of Burlington, PA, daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie & John Avery of Troy, PA, sisters, Sara Leiby of Troy, PA, Nathalie Stroud of Lititz, PA, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
