RED LION – Charles C. Snyder, 84, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Joyce E. (Anderson) Snyder with who passed away on January 29th. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on January 8, 2024.
A Graveside Tribute Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Bethel U.M. Cemetery, 1674 Furnace Rd., Brogue with Rev. Cary Moorman officiating. Full military honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are encouraged to meet at 1:45 PM Saturday at the Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born May 12, 1939 in Spry, a son of the late George and Virgnia “Ginny” (Koch) Snyder; he was a 1957 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Charles then enlisted in the US Navy earning the rank of Quartermaster and serving on the USS Terrebonne Parish that stood on high alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Following his military service, Mr. Snyder returned to York and began his career with Maple Press where he retired after more than 40 years of service. He loved putting in an honest days work, playing nine holes of golf, and spending the evening with his wife and children.
Mr. Snyder is survived by a daughter, Lori A. and husband Michael L. Miller of New Freedom; and a son, Jason A. and wife Patty Snyder of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria DeShong.
