Charles C. Kinard, Jr.

RED LION - Charles C. “Chalk” Kinard, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 6, 2018 in York Hospital at the age of 90. He was the husband of the late Margaret “Margie” I. (Fox) Kinard with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage at her passing. He was born in Windsor on November 19, 1927 and was the son of the late Charles C. Kinard, Sr. and Viola P. (Emenheiser) Kinard. He had worked as a plant expediter for Century Ribbon Mills in York, then apprenticed and was a cabinet maker at York Casket Company. After completing Hydraulic School and working at B.M. Root, he then retired from Motters Printing Press of York. “Chalk” was a life member of the York County Amateur Golf Association (YCAGA), where he served 19 years as tournament director, was a past president and received many other achievements. In 2001, he was inducted into the YCAGA Hall of Fame. He was a past 30-year member of the Izaak Walton League, Chapter #67, where he was a past board of director and rangemaster. He was a life member and past state representative of both Windsor Fish and Game Association and Windsor Lions Club. He was a past member of the Red Lion and York Elks Club. He had served in the US Army Air Corps. During WWII, where he completed Administration School. He was an exceptional gentleman who loved spending time and traveling with his family and friends. His great sense of humor and wit will be greatly missed. He leaves a daughter, Eileen L. Twigg and husband David of Church Creek, MD; two grandsons, David M. Twigg, II and wife Jennifer of Red Lion, Stephen M. Twigg and Bessie Bedford of Wrightsville; a great granddaughter, Alexis M. Twigg; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lavere O. Kinard and Dale R. Kinard and two sisters, Delores I. Bortner and Norma J. Enders. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 3, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church of Yorkana, 5 Main Street, in Yorkana, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. There will be a luncheon at the church to follow. His pastor, The Reverend Jason Guillaume will be officiating at the service.
