Renovo - Charles A. Walker, age 83, of Kettle Creek, died at Bucktail Medical Center on Friday, April 11, 2008. He was born in Pottsville, Pa. on August 7, 1924, son of the late Charles and Bertha May (Achey) Walker Sr. Charles was a master carpenter who worked for several companies in the Baltimore and Renovo area. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 6 bronze stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved gardening, and was always accompanied by his beloved pet dog-P.J. Surviving are his caregivers: Martha and Erin Churchill of Cross Fork and nieces: Barbara Sterner and Jane Wilson of Pottsville. He was preceded by one sister. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
