Catherine V. (Black) Thomas

YORK- Catherine Victoria (Black) Thomas passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her companion of 20 years, Russell B. King and her late ex-husband, Burton W. Thomas. Catherine was born in Carroll County, MD near Lineboro. She was educated in Glen Rock High School and William Penn Senior High in York. In her working years, she was employed at Jayson Shirt Company, Lyon Metal, Turkey Hill and Morningstar Marketplace. Catherine is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. Shifflet (Barry) and Sharon A. Grafton; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael D. Thomas; two sisters, Gladys Gumpper and Virginia Sheridan; and two brothers, Louis Black and Victor Black. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.
